This includes people sleeping rough on the streets and families living in temporary accommodation.

Pauline Cox, Regional Community Fundraiser for Shelter Merseyside, said: “This special outdoor performance of As You Like It is set to be a spectacular evening. By coming along the community can enjoy a night of original Shakespearean comedy in the open air, while helping Shelter to continue to be there for people who don’t have anywhere safe to call home.

“Thousands of people in the North West are homeless, many are families with children. Shelter’s work to fight the housing emergency, and provide practical help and advice to people, is vital. Our emergency helpline is open 365 days a year so that no-one has to face homelessness alone – but we cannot continue to do this without the amazing support of the public and our partners.

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who buys a ticket and comes along to this event, and we can’t thank The Lord Chamberlain’s Men and Claremont Farm enough for their support in making this dazzling night of theatre possible.”

As You Like It tells the story of Rosalind who is banished to the Forest of Arden and joined by her cousin Celia. While in exile, the heroines find love in the most curious of disguises. Free from the constraints of their former lives, lovers tussle, wits and fools spar, familial bonds are challenged, and everyone wrestles with what it really means to be yourself.

While in exile, they become exultant as true love and true identity are found in the forest. This rustic romance, packed with music and laughs will keep you smiling from start to finish.

Ticket holders must bring their own chair and dress for the weather as the show will continue in all but the very worst conditions. Food and a cash bar are available on site.

Gates open at 6pm and the show starts promptly at 7pm with a running time of two hours 15 minutes including a 15 minute interval. First held in 1981, the only event of its kind in the UK returns for its 40th year after a hiatus due to covid.

The event begins on Friday 9th September, with the first car away from Coastal Drive at 7.30pm. Cars start the timed circuit every 30 seconds, racing to complete the circuit in as quick a time as possible. Over the two days, teams compete to be the fastest in their class. After the two exciting Friday night stages, one of which is floodlit, there will be a full day of competition on the Saturday — with action starting at 8am until approximately 6pm.

Not only can spectators witness some extreme, hair-raising motor skills with drivers and co-drivers throwing their rally cars around the bends and chicanes, there will also be a Rally Village sponsored by Rallyflapz in the grass dip. The space will host various trade stands, attractions, rally car display and rally games, whilst also enjoying the exciting rally action.

To celebrate the 40th running of the event, the Saturday will also include a very special demonstration run featuring past winners and winning cars. The event has tempted 7 previous winners back to the full competition, including the original 1981 winning car driven by the son of the 1981 champion. There will be several past winning cars taking part in the demonstration run including, amongst others the Metro 6R4 (above) and a unique twin-engine rally prepared VW Scirocco.

The event will feature some incredible rally cars, including Ford Escort, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Ford, Porsche, Mini, VW, Darrian and many other iconic makes and models, driven by competitors from throughout the UK. Local talent Wes Simpson will be attempting to win his third title in a row, but other top UK drivers will not be giving him an easy time.

Wallasey Motor Club Chairman Gary Marriott said: “It feels great to return for our 40th anniversary after time out due to covid. The event has such a special history and we take great pride in bringing so many people to the area for 2 days of incredible rallying. Some of the events have had up to 15,000 spectators and it’s always a really fun, family friendly showcase.”

The Cataclean Promenade Stages Rally at New Brighton has won the Wirral Tourism Award for its services to the local community and its highly organised running of a large scale event. With cars racing at up to 100mph along the promenade and through various bends, roundabouts and chicanes, a huge amount of preparation goes into this popular event.

Service Area Manager & Assistant Equipment Officer Tam Doerfel Hill said: “These events are amazing and everyone goes away buzzing — it’s a sheer adrenalin rush witnessing cars travelling so fast, with all the sounds and smells associated with extreme driving. But what people don’t see is all the preparation and planning — so much goes into it to ensure it’s a safe event for all concerned.”

The Cataclean New Brighton Promenade Stages Rally returns to New Brighton on Friday 9th September with the thrilling hi-speed action starting at 7.30pm until 10pm. The action continues on Saturday 10th September at 8am and continues until approximately 6pm. There will also be a Rally Village with various trading stands, attractions, rally games, food and drink outlets and a historic 40th anniversary celebration demonstration run of past winners.

Cataclean New Brighton Promenade Stages Rally / Fri 9th & Sat 10th September 2022 / New Brighton Promenade

For more info visit the Wallasey Motor Club WEBSITE!

The post NEW BRIGHTON CAR RALLY RETURNS FOR 40TH ANNIVERSARY appeared first on Wirral Life Magazine.

At the beginning, each participant will be made to feel at ease with their fellow adventurers and given a pair of high-tech headphones for their soundtrack, before their hilarious, neon leg-warmer wearing host will enhance the experience with instructions for choreographed dance moves to match the music.

With barriers broken down and the combined confidence of the group at the ready, participants will begin their silent disco adventure at Anchor Courtyard outside Madre before they embark on their singing and dancing adventure around the dock. The upbeat soundtrack has been carefully curated to cover a mix of genres and eras, to ensure the highest level of participation.

Three tours are available on each of the days, two family-friendly daytime sessions and an adult session. The family sessions will finish at Tate Liverpool, where children will be treated to a complimentary little takeaway bag including crisps, fruit and a piece of cake from the Tate Cafe, whilst the adult route will finish at Madre where participants can choose to keep the party going with an extended happy hour offering their renowned Margaritas for just £6.

Silent Adventures founder, Alan Cross, comments, “We’re so excited to bring Silent Adventures to Liverpool’s iconic Royal Albert Dock. It’s such a unique, mood-lifting experience that allows participants to lose their inhibitions and try something completely new, and this paired with the stunning setting of the dock will deliver a truly memorable experience that promises a feel good factor that will last for days on end”.

The family tour tickets are priced at £12.00, and the adult tour tickets are priced at £16.95, pre-booking is essential and tickets can be bought from:

Family tour (1 & 2pm) – https://bit.ly/3AxTzwN Adult tour (6pm on 26th, 3pm on 29th) – https://bit.ly/3pqxHNm

The post Celebrate the Great British Seaside at Royal Albert Dock with Silent Adventures appeared first on Wirral Life Magazine.

Organisers have announced the next round of shows, which showcases a strong variety and cabaret theme for the 2022 event. The announcement also coincides with the festival’s lead sponsor and partner confirmed.

The line-up currently features 14 shows on sale, including three hugely popular shows which continually wow Edinburgh Festival Fringe audiences – they are coming direct to Liverpool for the very first time.

Liverpool Theatre Festival 2022 will take place at outdoors within the walls of the historic St Luke’s Bombed Out Church in Liverpool city centre between Wednesday 31 August and Sunday 11 September 2022.

The programme for the Autumn event features comedy, drama, musicals, drag, family shows, and opera.

Now added to the programme are I Wish My Life Were Like A Musical; Fear And Misery Of The Third Reich; Not Drunk But Disorderly; Holy Moly Cabaret; The Wind In The Willows; and Venus Rising.

Organisers are delighted to add three shows which all won rave reviews at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. I Wish My Life Were Like A Musical opens the festival on Wednesday 31 August; while Julie Madly Deeply and Looking For Me Friend – The Music Of Victoria Wood close the event on Sunday 11 September. They will come direct from the Scottish capital to debut at Liverpool Theatre Festival.

While Drunk But Not Disorderly returns after its successful premiere at Little LTF (Liverpool Theatre Festival Of New Works) earlier this year – organisers have now invited the production to be part of the main event. It joins the previously announced 97+ – A Drama Based On The 1989 Hillsborough Disaster, which also premiered at Little LTF and is now included in the main programme.

Also, celebrated Liverpool writer Ian Salmon (Girls Don’t Play Guitars, The Comeback Special, and Those Two Weeks) is back with a brand new version of one of his first successful plays. Venus Rising is a very modern love story about loss, regret, the decisions we make, and finding out what we actually need.

Liverpool Theatre Festival is also launching a brand new night featuring the finest and quirkiest cabaret acts from across the region including comedy, burlesque, music, and circus. Holy Moly Cabaret is hosted by the super talented Nana Funk and stars include Liverpool’s very own glamour queen, Millie Dollar.

Liverpool Theatre Festival 2022 also includes Laughterhouse Comedy; Ma Joyce’s Tales From The Parlour; Opera Beneath The Stars; Dame Fanny & The Starlets – A Family Friendly Drag Show; Drag Me To Church – Dragstravaganza; Julie Madly Deeply; and Looking For Me Friend – The Music Of Victoria Wood.

The full programme will be announced shortly.

The multi award-winning festival continues to grow in popularity and standing in the performing arts industry, and this week organisers have announced the lead sponsor Victor Welsh Media & Entertainment Law and lead partner Fostering Solutions who are supporting this year’s event.

Victor Welsh Media & Entertainment Law is a boutique legal firm geared up to meet the specific needs of those working in the creative industries including music, theatre, film, television, publishing, games design, or other creative ventures. They advise on matters relating to copyright, intellectual property, contracts and agreements, disputes, and new and start-up media businesses.

Fostering Solutions are keen to get involved in the local community and spread the word about fostering. Based on Smithdown Road in Liverpool, the team will be present at Liverpool Theatre Festival at St Luke’s Bombed Out Church to share their message – every day, two children in Liverpool go into care and need foster care. Fostering Solutions recently launched its first ever TV advert to appeal for foster carers.

Ticket Quarter is also on-board as an event sponsor. Ticket Quarter provides a full range of ticketing services for clients throughout the UK. Building on the strength and experience of managing M&S Bank Arena Liverpool and Exhibition Centre Liverpool box offices, they are experts when it comes to powering events and audiences for promoters, venues, and organisers. Services include a fully customised and integrated ticketing website to enhance the customer experience, and branded ticket hotline.

Liverpool Theatre Festival 2022 partners also include The Epstein Theatre, dBS Solutions, and Bills Elms Associates.

Liverpool-based children’s charity KIND is this year’s official charity partner, which includes bucket collections at show performances. Liverpool Theatre Festival 2022 is dedicated to the memory of Baby Michael James who would have been celebrating his 21st Birthday this September.

Liverpool Theatre Festival was created by Liverpool theatre producer Bill Elms, who has worked in the theatre industry for more than 30 years. Theatres and live entertainment venues were ordered to close immediately under the Government’s first national Covid-19 lockdown guidelines in March 2020.

It was Bill’s mission to reinvigorate and boost the city’s live performance and creative arts sector, offering a lifeline when it was needed most. Liverpool Theatre Festival was created in a matter of weeks. Its inaugural staging won praise from audiences and critics alike, as well as winning many awards along the way.

Producer and artistic director Bill Elms commented:

“In just five weeks we’ll be welcoming Liverpool Theatre Festival back to St Luke’s Bombed Out Church for its third consecutive year – and what will be our biggest ever festival. The event has firmly established itself with creatives and performers and has won many festivalgoer fans since it was launched in Autumn 2020. It’s been welcomed with open arms across the region and we continue to strive to give everyone diverse choice, quality live entertainment, and real value for money.

“The shows announced so far showcase a strong variety and cabaret theme – something to give us all a lift, the perfect tonic, and what we all really need right now. We’re thrilled to programme three shows which have already wowed Edinburgh Fringe Festival audiences, as well as bringing back two shows from Little LTF earlier this year which really made their mark. We’ve still got more shows to announce so watch this space.”

Liverpool Theatre Festival is committed to supporting local artists, creatives, and theatre companies. During the two events in 2021, a total of 30 local and regional diverse theatrical productions were staged – resulting in almost 200 performers, musicians and creatives involved and working as the pandemic continued.

Visit www.liverpooltheatrefestival.com for the latest news updates.

The post More shows added to line-up of Liverpool Theatre Festival appeared first on Wirral Life Magazine.

Bringing Punch and Judy shows back to Liverpool, where it first arrived in the 1860s, watch a modernised puppet performance inspired by pantomime and adapted to suit the whole family. Every Wednesday between 11am-2pm, get your portrait drawn by a caricature artist, perfect for capturing the day’s memories. Then, become the canvas every Thursday with face and hand painting between 11pm-2pm.

Fresh from visiting Glastonbury Festival, vintage-style theatre Sol Cinema is joining the dock for August bank holiday weekend. With a chance to attend a screening in the world’s smallest picture house, there’s plenty to keep boredom at bay.

A trip to the waterfront wouldn’t be complete without refreshments to tantalise your tastebuds from the dock’s selection of restaurants, bars and food trucks. Satisfy seafood cravings with fresh fish and chips at PANAM and Docklands Fish & Chips or crispy scampi and fries from So Greek Full. Those with a sweet tooth can also tuck into churros drizzled with chocolate at Revolucion de Cuba, sea salt fudge at Roly’s Fudge and ice cream at Tate Cafe, Porters and Rubens.

Churros drizzled with chocolate at Revolucion de Cuba

For sundowner cocktails, stop by Turncoat Bar and Pizza for a Tidal Gin and tonic, encapsulating the flavours of the coast, or sip on a watermelon Midsummer Melon-choly cocktail at the One O’Clock Gun. For a non-alcoholic alternative, taste a newly launched Bubble Tea at Rosa’s Thai Cafe, including a tropical lychee and jasmine flavour.

Take home a souvenir from the dock’s range of retailers including postcards capturing the city from Liverpool Pictures, carved driftwood sculptures at Nature’s Treasure and marine life garlands from The Nest. Visitors can also cool off with expertly designed t-shirts and shorts from Lost Soles and Red Run Activewear, or choose from a variety of summer essentials at Harbour Accessories.

With six weeks to fill with family fun, visit Tate Liverpool for free, drop-in Create Your Tate sessions to reimagine the art gallery with slides, play areas or whatever the heart desires. Take to the seven seas at Maritime Museum and learn about Liverpool’s seafaring past with Life on Board.

Enjoy the most-loved elements of the Great British Seaside available on Liverpool’s waterfront all summer long — oh, we do like to be beside the seaside.

The post The Great British Seaside returns to Royal Albert Dock Liverpool appeared first on Wirral Life Magazine.
