Gordale will host their very first Chilli Event on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th April between 11am – 4pm. It will be a weekend devoted to chillies and features talks and demos from their chilli expert, aptly named, Chilli Bob.
Whether you are new to chillies or you already have a taste for them, the weekend will give you the opportunity to learn even more about the different varieties of chillies, from Nagas and Scotch Bonnets to Arbols and Habaneros, and give you an understanding of Scoville heat units, the worldwide standard for grading chilli heat. After each of his talks (1pm and 3pm) you’ll have the perfect opportunity to ask Chilli Bob literally anything related to chillies.
And on show you will find many differing types of chilli plants, which will be available to purchase, plus chilli infused preserves and pickles from Wirral-based artisan producer, Chilli Gourmets.
It is worth noting that chillies have become a popular addition to many food recipes in the UK. It is believed that they offer plenty of health giving properties – from high levels of vitamins and minerals, to helping lower bad cholesterol and reduce inflammation.
The event is free to attend and everyone is welcome.
