For the second year running a group of local fundraisers have raised thousands for Wirral Foodbank to help “make a real difference for local people’.

The fundraising group #TeamDDB decided to do a number of fundraisers for the foodbank – including Mo’vember, sponsored Jogs, a Christmas party, and two Mega Christmas Raffles!

With support from the likes of Anthony Joshua, Liam Gallagher and Shaun Ryder – all of whom kindly donated items to the raffle helped #TeamDDB together JK Electrical went onto raise £6,000.

The response and support received was phenomenal, and in just a few months this amazing amount of money was raised.

Danny de Brabander from #TeamDDB said “Once again the support of the local community has been staggering, for the 2nd year running we have managed to raise a huge amount of money for Wirral Foodbank and for local people who need it most. Hearing where this money goes really gives you satisfaction that we are supporting the heart of our community. A special mention to Joey at JK Electrical who did his own raffle and put on special Christmas party – his contribution really helped to achieve this amazing total raised!”

Richard Roberts, General Manager at Wirral Foodbank said “We believe that the provision of emergency food alone should not be the solution to poverty, regardless of how it is distributed.

In 2018, Wirral Foodbank launched Foodbank Plus, a service delivered by Citizens Advice Wirral and commissioned by Wirral Foodbank.  The service provides immediate benefit, debt and other advice and support to individuals who use the foodbank; in doing this we address the underlying reason for needing our support.  This year we are expanding the service and offering mental health support.  The generosity of #TeamDDB will enable us to deliver these much-needed services to individuals who come to our foodbank centres – thank you to all for your incredible support”

#TeamDDB originally setup in support of Danny de Brabander who is currently battling terminal Bowel Cancer has now raised over £80,000 for other local charities, and the local community. They have also done over 30 Random Acts of Kindness for local people who have faced challenges in life and need a lift.
